S-CAB

S•CAB is an Italian furniture brand with a history dating back to 1957. Over more than six decades, the company has grown from a family-run business into one of Italy’s best-known manufacturers of chairs, tables and outdoor furniture Made in Italy. S•CAB collections are widely specified for residential and contract projects, including restaurants, hotels, terraces and public spaces.

S•CAB is an abbreviation of “Sedute e Complementi d’Arredo Battaglia”, referring to Battaglia seating and furnishing accessories. Over more than six decades, the company has evolved from a small family business into one of Italy’s most recognised furniture brands, with products used in projects around the world.

Brand history: family, tradition and continuous development

The story of S•CAB is also the story of a family business now in its third generation, founded through the intuition and passion of Francesco Battaglia. In 2015, Italian President Sergio Mattarella awarded Francesco Battaglia the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro. Management of the company subsequently passed to his daughters: Luisa, Creative Director, and Francesca, responsible for sales on the Italian market.

In 2021, the brand introduced a new logo that reinforced its identity as a specialist in seating. In 2022, S•CAB was entered in the Register of Historic Italian Brands of National Interest.

Manufacturing: scale and craftsmanship

All S•CAB collections are manufactured in Italy across three production sites with a total area of 85,000 m². Technopolymer products are manufactured using 30 robotic moulding presses. A team of architects, designers, engineers and technical specialists oversees every product throughout the production cycle, combining the culture of Italian craftsmanship with the capabilities of large-scale industrial manufacturing.

Materials and innovation

As one of the pioneers in the use of thermoplastic materials, S•CAB today works with a broad range of materials including aluminium, steel, wood and textiles. S•CAB products are fully recyclable: each plastic component is marked in accordance with ISO 11469:2001 and supplied with guidance for correct disposal.

The quality of its technopolymer products is further supported by the company’s collaboration with Covestro and its authorisation to use the Makrolon® trademark.

The S•CAB catalogue is continually expanded with new collections and includes chairs, bar stools, tables and furnishing accessories distinguished by contemporary design, innovation and high manufacturing quality.

The Malvasia collection by Francesca Lanzavecchia features metal chairs formed from a single perforated sheet of steel, discreetly joined to a tubular frame. The Brezza collection by Alessandro Stabile includes armchairs and outdoor sofas with removable covers and an innovative cushion attachment system that requires neither glue nor hook-and-loop fasteners. The Mimosa collection of planters, designed by Ionna Vautrin, is made from aluminium and draws inspiration from the natural forms of a flower and its root system.
