Venue formats and selection logic
Furniture for cafés, bars and restaurants is selected not by style, but by usage scenario. Length of stay, traffic density and service format determine the construction, materials and dimensions of every item.
In coffee shops and cafés, the priority is seat turnover and mobility. Compact 2–4 person tables, lightweight stackable chairs and the ability to reconfigure the space quickly for changing flows. Deep seating is not required here — what matters is furniture that staff can move in seconds.
In restaurants, the situation is different: guests stay for 1.5–2 hours and judge comfort. Table widths start from 80 cm, chairs need ergonomic backrests and armrests, and soft seating zones are used for waiting areas and longer stays. The structure must not wobble or creak — guests immediately read that as poor quality.
For bars and pubs, resistance to intensive physical use is critical: bar stools are loaded differently from dining chairs — they are pulled, tilted and used with feet on the stretchers. The frame must withstand this without deformation at the joints.
Food courts and catering call for maximum durability and minimum cleaning time. Monolithic surfaces without decorative grooves, materials that withstand pressure washing and constructions without fabric elements.

Materials and construction solutions
HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is the industry standard for tabletops in HoReCa. The surface withstands temperatures up to 180°C, resists scratches, alcohol-based liquids and disinfectants, and does not swell from moisture, unlike MDF and chipboard. For restaurant tables, this is not an option — it is the minimum material requirement.
Metal table bases are produced from cast iron or powder-coated steel. Cast-iron bases are heavier and more stable in high-traffic settings, and do not shift during contact. Steel bases on chrome tube are lighter and suit dynamic spaces with frequent reconfiguration. Adjustable feet eliminate wobbling on uneven floors without improvised packing.
Chair frames for restaurants are made from bent metal, beech or ash. Beech and ash carry joint loads better than softwoods and have a lower tendency to loosen under repeated use. Metal frames allow for significantly higher loads and provide greater freedom of form.
Seating density and floor plan efficiency
The correct furniture dimensions directly affect how many covers a venue can accommodate without compromising circulation standards. The standard distance between tables for comfortable service is 90–120 cm. A 60×60 table for two in a square dining room allows significantly more covers than a 70×70 table — a 10 cm difference per table can add 10–15% more capacity within the same layout.
Soft seating zones with sofas reduce the number of covers per square metre, but increase average spend and dwell time — and in the end often deliver higher revenue per seat in restaurants with a mid-range or higher average ticket.
