Pedrali is an Italian manufacturer of designer contract furniture for restaurants, cafés, hotels, terraces, offices and public spaces. The company’s story began in 1963, when Mario Pedrali opened a small artisan workshop in Palazzolo sull’Oglio and produced his first collections of metal chairs for outdoor spaces. Today, Pedrali is a second-generation family business manufacturing in Italy furniture for restaurants and cafés, tables, lounge systems, outdoor collections and lighting, combining industrial technology, contemporary design and the requirements of the professional contract market.

Pedrali history: from an artisan workshop to an international contract brand

Mario Pedrali founded the company in 1963 in Palazzolo sull’Oglio, in the province of Brescia. The first products were metal chairs for gardens and outdoor spaces — a direction that would later find a contemporary continuation in Pedrali’s outdoor collections.

As the company developed, it evolved from artisan production into an industrial manufacturer and began collaborating extensively with Italian and international designers. Today Pedrali is led by the second generation of the family, Monica and Giuseppe Pedrali, and employs around 360 people.

Over more than six decades, Pedrali has developed an international presence and become one of the recognised Italian manufacturers serving the contract and hospitality sectors.

100% Made in Italy: two production centres

Pedrali furniture is designed and manufactured entirely in Italy. The company’s headquarters and main production complex are located in Mornico al Serio, in the province of Bergamo, while its wooden furniture production is based in Manzano, Friuli-Venezia Giulia — one of Italy’s historic furniture-making districts.

This production structure allows Pedrali to work with different materials and technologies within one integrated manufacturing system. Metal, plastics, wood and upholstered components are processed industrially with control throughout the various stages of production.

Pedrali’s facilities operate according to Industry 4.0 principles, with digitised and interconnected production systems. The automated warehouse at Mornico al Serio, designed by CZA — Cino Zucchi Architetti, forms part of the company’s architectural and technological infrastructure.

Materials: metal, wood, polypropylene and upholstered furniture

One of Pedrali’s defining characteristics is its ability to work with a wide range of materials within a single catalogue. Metal is used for lightweight and durable frames, wood for tactile interior collections, polypropylene for complex monobloc forms, while upholstered components extend the range to restaurant armchairs, lounge furniture and waiting-area systems.

For hospitality interiors, this allows different functional areas to be furnished with products from the same brand — from primary seating and bar stools to lounge chairs, tables and furniture for outdoor terraces.

Pedrali designers

Pedrali collections are created in collaboration with Italian and international designers working across different materials and furniture typologies. The brand’s collaborators include Odo Fioravanti, CMP Design, Patrick Jouin, Patrick Norguet, Sebastian Herkner, Eugeni Quitllet, Robin Rizzini and others.

Rather than following a single stylistic formula, Pedrali develops a catalogue built around different design languages — from graphic metal outdoor chairs to sculptural polypropylene models, wooden seating and upholstered lounge systems. What connects them is a focus on industrial production and practical use in contract environments.

Frida and the Compasso d’Oro ADI

One of the significant products in Pedrali’s history is the Frida wooden chair designed by Odo Fioravanti. In 2011, Frida received the Compasso d’Oro ADI, one of the most recognised international awards in industrial design.

For Pedrali, Frida clearly expresses the brand’s approach: visual character is created not through decoration, but through construction, proportion, manufacturing technology and efficient use of material.

Nolita — a return to Pedrali’s origins

Nolita by CMP Design is one of Pedrali’s most distinctive outdoor collections. Its design refers back to the first metal garden chairs produced by Mario Pedrali at the beginning of the company’s history in 1963.

A slender tubular-steel frame creates a light, graphic silhouette well suited to outdoor environments. The collection has developed into a broad family of products for terraces, including chairs, armchairs, bar-height models, lounge seating, sofas and other elements.

Its lightweight construction and range of seating formats make Nolita particularly useful for creating a consistent restaurant terrace concept, from dining areas to lounge zones.

Pedrali outdoor collections for professional terraces

Outdoor furniture is an important part of Pedrali’s range. Collections for exterior environments are developed for restaurant and café terraces, hotels, verandas, gardens and public spaces. Panarea — Mediterranean lightness

Panarea by CMP Design is inspired by the atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast and dining on a terrace by the sea. A distinctive feature of the collection is the polypropylene cord, hand-woven in Italy around the metal frame.

The family includes armchairs, lounge models and bar stools. The visual lightness of the woven structure makes Panarea particularly suitable for restaurant terraces, hotels and resort projects where furniture should preserve a sense of openness without visually overwhelming the architecture.

Reva Cocoon — an outdoor lounge system

Reva Cocoon, designed by Patrick Jouin, is a lounge furniture system for outdoor spaces. Its high backrests create a more private and protected setting, particularly useful on large terraces, in hotel lounges and relaxation areas.

The modular system can be arranged in different configurations depending on the layout — from individual seating areas and compact compositions to larger continuous lounge settings.

Lamorisse and contemporary terrace comfort

Lamorisse by CMP Design combines a lightweight aluminium structure with generously upholstered elements. This construction brings the comfort associated with an indoor armchair into outdoor environments and works particularly well on hotel verandas, shaded restaurant terraces, poolside areas and lounge spaces.

Pedrali tables for restaurants and cafés

The Pedrali range is not limited to seating. The company develops tables for restaurants and cafés, bar tables and individual table bases, allowing dining spaces to be specified within a coherent design system.

The collections include steel and aluminium structures, concrete bases, wooden elements and tabletops in different shapes and sizes. For hospitality projects, this makes it possible to choose tables according to seating density, tabletop dimensions, height and intended use.

Pedrali furniture is used in restaurant, hotel and corporate projects around the world. Brand references include Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London, Alain Ducasse projects in Versailles, LAGO at Bellagio Las Vegas, Caffè Fernanda at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, Google offices in Dublin and Microsoft House in Milan.

Ester and Panarea models have also been selected for interiors at Raffles Hotel Singapore. These projects illustrate the breadth of Pedrali’s contract expertise, spanning fine dining, luxury hospitality, corporate environments and outdoor terraces.

Sustainable design and certification

Pedrali considers product durability an important part of sustainable design. Furniture is developed with long service life, disassembly and the correct separation of materials at the end of the product’s life cycle in mind.

Wood used in Pedrali products is FSC® certified, while water-based finishes containing a significant proportion of plant-derived resins are used in wood processing. The company also works with recycled polypropylene: its recycled grey material is composed of 50% post-consumer plastic waste and 50% industrial plastic waste.

Pedrali’s management systems are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. The company also assesses its corporate carbon footprint in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14064-1.
