Collection Tripe

Tripé is a collection of S•CAB metal table bases and tables designed by RadiceOrlandini for restaurants, cafés, hotels, terraces and public spaces. Its distinctive three-spoke base combines minimalist geometry, visual lightness and professional functionality. The system includes table bases in dining, bar and coffee-table heights, folding versions, Maxi and Double models, as well as complete Tripé Steel metal tables.

Tripé by S•CAB — designer table bases and tables for restaurants and terraces

The Tripé collection is built around a simple and highly recognisable three-spoke structure. RadiceOrlandini developed a system in which functionality, minimalism and a distinctive silhouette work as a coherent whole. Its compact geometry takes up minimal space beneath the tabletop, making it particularly suitable for restaurants, cafés and terraces where efficient seating layouts are important.

Tripé is not a single product but a complete table system. It includes fixed and folding bases, standard and high versions, enlarged Tripé Maxi models, double bases for rectangular tops and complete tables. This makes it possible to carry the same design language across different functional areas of a hospitality project.

RadiceOrlandini design: minimalist and distinctive

Tripé was designed by the Italian studio RadiceOrlandini, founded by Andrea Radice and Folco Orlandini. Their work combines functionality with expressive yet enduring forms, improving familiar objects not only aesthetically but also through construction and ergonomics.

With Tripé, the traditional central table pedestal is reinterpreted through a softly shaped three-spoke base. The geometry gives the table a lighter, more contemporary appearance while retaining the stability required for professional use.

Modular construction instead of a monobloc base

One of Tripé’s defining features is that the structure is not manufactured as a conventional monobloc. The base consists of separate components that can be disassembled and replaced when necessary. The base and column are made of painted steel, while the central connecting element is die-cast aluminium.

For hospitality operators, this construction offers a practical advantage: damage to an individual component does not necessarily require replacement of the entire base. The demountable structure also simplifies logistics and supports S•CAB’s approach to separating materials correctly at the end of the product’s life cycle.

Fixed and folding Tripé table bases

The system is available in two main configurations. Fixed versions use a cast-iron fixing element for the tabletop and are designed for permanent installations. Folding models allow the tabletop to tilt into a vertical position, making them particularly practical where tables are regularly moved, stored or reconfigured.

The folding range includes Tripé 5000, the high Tripé 5001 and Tripé Maxi 5005. The collection also includes the double Tripé 5010 with a folding mechanism for larger rectangular tables.

This folding functionality makes Tripé especially suitable for commercial terraces, seasonal outdoor areas, banqueting spaces and cafés requiring flexible furniture layouts.

Three heights for different hospitality areas

Tripé makes it possible to create several seating formats within the same collection. Standard bases at approximately 73 cm high are designed for conventional café and restaurant tables. The 109 cm high versions are intended for bar tables and high-seating areas.

The lower Tripé 5004 can be used for coffee and lounge tables. The same distinctive three-spoke geometry can therefore be repeated across dining areas, bars and lounge spaces, creating a consistent design language throughout the interior.

Tripé Maxi — for larger tabletops

For projects requiring greater tabletop capacity, S•CAB developed Tripé Maxi. Its enlarged three-spoke base has a wider footprint and is suitable for a broader range of tabletop sizes. Depending on the configuration, technical specifications allow round tops up to Ø80 cm and square tops up to 85×85 cm.

Tripé Maxi is available both as a fixed base and with a folding mechanism. This makes it possible to specify larger restaurant tables while retaining the visual lightness and distinctive character of the original Tripé design.

Tripé Double — a double base for rectangular tables

For larger rectangular tabletops, the system is complemented by Tripé Double. Two supporting columns are connected within one structure while retaining the collection’s characteristic three-spoke elements at each end.

The fixed Tripé 5007 and folding Tripé 5010 can accommodate tabletops up to 160×80 cm. This format is particularly useful in restaurants that need both compact two-person tables and larger four-person configurations while maintaining a consistent design throughout the space.

Tripé for professional terraces and outdoor spaces

S•CAB includes Tripé within its outdoor range, making the collection suitable for professional outdoor tables for restaurants, cafés and hotels. Painted metal construction, a compact footprint and the availability of folding models make the system particularly practical for urban terraces and seasonal outdoor areas.

For such projects, Tripé can be considered alongside other outdoor table bases, but its key distinction is not only functionality: its recognisable designer form becomes an integral part of the architecture of the space.

Tripé Steel — complete metal tables

The collection is not limited to separate table bases. Tripé Steel includes complete round metal tables using the same characteristic three-spoke structure. The range includes Ø60 and Ø70 cm models, including versions with folding tabletops.

Compact round formats are particularly efficient for two-person seating. They require less floor space on a terrace or in a smaller café and help optimise the available area. Matching the base and tabletop in a single colour further reinforces the clean, graphic character of the table.

Colours and configurations

S•CAB offers Tripé in a range of colour finishes for the base and column. This allows the system to work either as a neutral architectural element or as a stronger colour accent within a restaurant terrace or interior.

Different heights, base dimensions, fixed and folding mechanisms, and single or double structures make it possible to specify the most appropriate configuration for the tabletop size, seating format and operational requirements of each project.

Good Design Award 2021

The structural and design concept behind Tripé received the international Good Design Award 2021. The distinction is particularly relevant to the collection because its identity comes not from decorative detailing, but from the construction itself — its three-spoke geometry, modularity and ability to deliver broad functionality through a limited number of elements.
